One Command Ahead wiki
Your first routine
Look ahead. Make a plan. Let your robot do the walking.
1. Inspect the course
Find your robot’s starting pad and the goal. Count the spaces between turns, and look for missing floor tiles. Directions are relative to the robot: its left may not be the left side of your screen.
2. Arrange your commands
Tap a command in the tray to add it, or drag it into the routine. Put the blocks in the order you want them to run. Adjust movement distances with the plus and minus controls. Drag blocks to reorder them.
3. Press Run
The robot executes your routine from start to finish. Watch the highlighted command to connect each instruction with what happens on the course. Movement and jumps must be planned before the run starts.
4. Reset and revise
A missed turn is useful information. Reset, change the instruction that caused the problem, and try again. You can keep refining a successful routine too: fewer blocks or a faster run can improve your result.
Show a worked example: the first course
For Training 01, “The Gap,” this routine reaches the goal:
MOVE 1
JUMP 2
MOVE 1
TURN LEFT
MOVE 2The jump is an explicit instruction. A MOVE command at the gap won’t automatically turn into a jump.
Credits, replays, and medals
Coins award training credits after a successful run. Spend credits on commands in the depot. Each coin pays once; replaying a completed course lets you hunt for coins you missed and improve your personal best.
The development build awards bronze for finishing, silver for meeting either the block target or the time target, and gold for meeting both. Time is measured during the run, so take your time planning.
